In the standard configuration, the local computer that runs eTouch has to have any/all documents stored locally when viewing documents in eTouch. When this special function is activated this changes, so now eTouch will fetch any/all documents from the server instead. However, if the fetch douments from the server fail, the system will then try and fetch the documents from the local computer that runs eTouch. If this fails as well, eTouch will not be able to display the document/s.
If the system is successful and the document/s is located it will be viewed in the document viewer in eTouch. This means that you can not have the special function "191 Document viewing via standard program" activated at the same time. Here you can find more information about that special function.
It is possible to limit the document search the system does when this special function is activated. To limit the search add specific folders that the system should search in. This is done via "Client" -> "Administration" -> "System settings" -> "Basic data" -> "Documents" -> "Server document folders". Here there is more information on how that works.
